Counseling Federal Way, WA Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ about Rainy Day Therapy

  • I help women and queer adults find relief from anxiety & people-pleasing, while learning to embrace their bodies, identities, and needs.

My areas of expertise include body shame and food distress, ADHD symptoms, queer identities, social justice issues, inner child, attachment wounds, people-pleasing, boundaries & communication, and highly sensitive people.

  • Book a free consultation here.

A consult takes about 15min to discuss your needs, any questions you have, and ways I can support you. If we decide to work together, you'll be booked during the call and sent initial paperwork.

  • Individual therapy $200/hr

  • I am not an in-network provider so I don't bill insurances but if you have a PPO plan you may have the option for insurance reimbursement. We can discuss that further during a consultation.

  • Duration of therapy depends on what you’re needing support with and how long it takes to meet those goals. There’s no way to determine this timeline at the start of therapy. However, the more consistently you attend sessions and practice skills, the more likely progress will be made. Studies show that clients who attend weekly sessions tend to prioritize their mental health and meet their goals faster. For this reason, I recommend committing to at least 10-12 weekly sessions and then assessing frequency from there.

If my availability does not allow for weekly for whatever reason, we will create a plan for you to work on skills outside of session.

I do not offer monthly sessions.

  • I offer a reschedule only cancellation policy, meaning any sessions that you wish to cancel will need to be rescheduled within 3 weeks after your original session date. You’ll be allotted two free cancellations per year. Once the two free cancellations are used, any cancellations made that are not rescheduled will be subject to the full session fee.

This policy is unusual, but I find that clients have had increased attendance and intentionality about their mental health when this policy is in place. It’s a balance of holding you accountable while not always having to charge you for time you can’t use.

  • Both!

I prefer working with clients in person as there’s less barrier to connecting and I gain better insight from body language & other context clues.

However, virtual therapy is a convenient option as well so I have no problem supporting you via computer. We can discuss which option fits your needs best during our consultation.

  • Clients can make appointments on Mon, Tues, and Fri.

  • I work with adult individuals 18+.

  •

During our work together we will consistently check in on your therapy experience and progress. If we determine that you have met your goals and feel ready to “fly the nest” then we will determine an end date. Having an intentional termination session is beneficial when ending the therapy process and relationship with your therapist.

  • If at any time in our work together you feel like you need something different, please tell me. You do not need to invest time and money in a therapy experience that doesn’t meet your needs. Sometimes when therapy doesn’t seem to be working it can mean a pivot in goals or approach is necessary, but other times it might mean you need a different form of treatment. Either way, my job is to help you assess this and find the right support. I never shy away from exploring other options with clients when needed (and for my people-pleaser clients – no, you won’t hurt my feelings).
