These behaviors may stem from childhood, where learning to please parents created a sense of safety and made coping from trauma easier. Maybe people-pleasing showed up in early adulthood, where you often struggled to make decisions and feel confident in yourself. Maybe you notice it the most at work or in relationships, where setting boundaries and saying “no” feels impossible.

No matter how people-pleasing shows up in your life, right now you feel exhausted, question your worth, and feel stuck in a pattern of accommodation. Many parts of life suffer when you feel like you can’t be yourself or your needs don’t matter. Over time you’ve felt increased anxiety, chronic self-doubt, and a general loss of self. When you’ve been accommodating for so long, people-pleasing can feel like an inseparable part of life—but it doesn’t have to be that way.

In our work together, you’ll find a space where you can finally prioritize you. We’ll explore the roots of your people-pleasing patterns and how that prevents you from accepting who you are. Some areas we may focus on include ways to reconnect with your body and intuition. We may examine how your gender and sexual identities have been impacted by people-pleasing, specifically if you are a woman, queer, and/or non-binary, as people-pleasing is often a response to social and systemic trauma. We may also explore how your neurodivergence can exacerbate people-pleasing behaviors and find ways to work with your brain to alleviate this.
